WELCOME TO
THE GENTLE VILLAGE
Every pregnancy and postpartum journey is different, whether you’re welcoming your first baby or your third. At The Gentle Village, we offer midwifery, lactation and infant feeding support in Perth, designed to feel personal, practical and genuinely supportive.
Families often come to us when they’re wanting continuity of care and personalised support during pregnancy or when feeding isn’t going how they expected, whether that’s breastfeeding, bottle feeding, reflux symptoms or tongue tie concerns. What we focus on is the whole picture, not just the feed, but how your baby is functioning, moving and settling and how you’re feeling through it all.
Our approach brings together nursing, private midwifery care, IBCLC lactation support and collaborative allied health, supporting you through pregnancy, postpartum and early parenthood in a way that helps you feel connected, supported, but most importantly, empowered.
You don’t need to have everything figured out before reaching out. If something doesn’t feel quite right, you’re in the right place, because The Gentle Village was built for you.
MEET YOUR VILLAGE
Meet Brenda - The Heart Behind The Gentle Village
Registered Nurse | Endorsed Midwife | International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) | Orofacial Myofunctional Therapist
I'm a mum of two and the founder of The Gentle Village. With over 17 years as a Registered Nurse and Midwife, I’ve had the privilege of supporting families through some of their most tender, challenging and transformative moments of early parenthood.
My interest in infant feeding support was sparked by my own journey into motherhood. Like many parents, I was told everything was "normal", even when it didn’t feel that way. I began researching, asking questions and gradually realised how complex and under-supported it can feel for new parents when it comes to feeding challenges, tongue ties, food allergies and uncomfortable babies, even as a registered nurse/midwife, all of my concerns felt dismissed.
For this reason, The Gentle Village was created. No parent should have their concerns dismissed when it comes to how their baby is feeding, eating or feeling. I combine clinical expertise with lived experienced to provide care that’s both comprehensive and compassionate. My nursing, midwifery, lactation and orofacial myology background means I’m confident assessing the whole picture, from recognising when a baby may need a medical specialist review (for concerns beyond feeding) to supporting complex feeding challenges including those related to oral ties and function, food intolerances, colic and refluxy babies and infants with additional needs, such as chromosomal differences. It’s this integration of decades of nursing and midwifery insight and feeding support that allows me to offer families truly holistic care.
At The Gentle Village, you’re not expected to know all the answers, you’re simply met with respect, understanding and the kind of care that truly listens. I’m so glad you’ve found your way here.
